Immersion Into Abstraction With Artist: Valerie Allen (June 20th-24th, 10-4pm)
This five-day workshop’s intention is to propel artists into exploring the power of process to create artwork that is exciting, fresh, and original. Intuitive thoughts will connect with intentional design as decisions are made to build the layers of the paintings. Atelier School of Art is an excellent venue to encourage a sense of community with other artists who are curious and passionate about abstract imagery.
There will be daily segments focused on the themes: Process, Produce and Present. The Process segment will include live painting demos from Valerie as well as explanation of methods and materials. The Produce time slot will be your studio time to work on your paintings at the easel with one on one mentor-style feedback. The Present segment will include art history presentations, discussions on completion of paintings for display, and final group critique. Valerie will also conduct a presentation of Acrylics: A to Z just for the participants in this immersion. Think of this week as part artist residency and part summer workshop! Space is limited to allow for room to work on larger canvas up to 48”x48”. Supply list will be provided upon registration.
